WE LIVE UP HERE was an 18-month radio project I created at WXPR Public Radio to highlight interesting people and places in northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I won four awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for stories I reported in the series, including 1st place for Best Interview and 1st place for Best Web Story. The project was also chosen to be a part of the National Federation of Community Broadcaster's Community Counts Initiative.
Below are some of my favorite stories I produced for the series.
This is the story of two ambulances and a small town Wisconsin resident who felt compelled to help out a small Alaskan town.
Thanks to a group of women from the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians though, the exhibit is now being brought to life.
40+ years after being given a life preserver from the Edmund Fitzgerald, the meaning behind the gift is not lost.
The difference between a poisonous mushroom and edible one is in the details.
